Intensive EMDR Therapy

Intensive EMDR is a therapy option designed for clients seeking to accelerate their trauma recovery. Unlike traditional weekly or bi-weekly sessions, Intensive EMDR allows for faster symptom reduction. The process includes a 60-minute pre-consultation interview, during which assessments are conducted to identify symptoms, attachment styles, triggers, and memories that require attention. The treatment also involves goal-setting for the intensive therapy experience. Clients receive a personalized workbook that helps them work on treatment goals before, during, and after sessions. The intensive treatment itself spans one weekend (typically 9 hours in total, divided into 3-4 hour sessions from Friday to Sunday) and focuses on EMDR resourcing and reprocessing. Afterward, a 60-minute post-treatment interview is conducted to assess the client’s adaptation to positive changes, which can be done online. While Intensive EMDR is not covered by insurance, research has shown that it is an effective and safe option for those with PTSD, yielding faster symptom relief. Studies indicate that this approach can achieve significant improvements in a short period, especially in cases of complex PTSD, by eliminating time typically spent on check-ins, addressing current crises, and other aspects of standard therapy. This condensed format offers a quicker path to trauma healing.
